What to Keep in Your Trunk in the Fall

What to Keep in Your Trunk in the Fall

The fall season is here. At All Auto Services in Grand Rapids we recommend that you prepare your vehicle for the fall weather.  Here are some of the tools we recommend you keep in your car at all times:

Spare tire/jack/wrench – A flat tire will usually happen when you least expect it. Thus, the reason to be prepared for changing a tire. You will want to check again and be certain that you have everything needed to change a tire.

Extra gloves and coats – You never know for sure what the weather holds, and for that reason, it is wise to keep extra gloves and coats in your trunk.

First aid kit – This is something that should be kept in the trunk all the time.

Emergency flares – These are good to have in case you are stranded in the middle of nowhere, and especially if the vehicle cannot be moved to the side of the road.

Jumper cables – Jumper cables should be kept in the trunk all the time. You never know when you may end up needing someone to give you a boost,  you may be asked by someone else for a boost.

Flashlight – You should definitely keep a flashlight or two in your vehicle at all times. It can be used to warn others that you need help and comes in really handy if you have to walk to find help when it is dark. Keep some spare batteries just in case, or maybe buy one of those emergency wind-up flashlights.

Cell phone charger – It is a good idea to carry a cell phone charger in case of an emergency.

Bottled water and non-perishable snacks – Keep plenty of non-perishable snacks and bottled water in your trunk in case you end up stranded on the road; water is vital, while snacks will keep you from being hungry and annoyed in an already annoying situation.  You may want to put them in a box, so they don’t tumble all around the trunk.

We also recommend giving  your vehicle a thorough inspection, so give us a call at All Auto Services. If  your vehicle is due for an oil change, we can combine it with the inspection ( particularly brake inspection and battery check) to save  you an extra trip to the shop. Our friendly staff is looking forward to working on your car. Call for appointment, or you can make one online, on our website.
